Self portraits on Calaveras road
I went to check out the twisty and treacherous Calaveras road from Milpitas to Sunol yesterday after work but it was too dark to go past a few miles. I went again today and with a tripod for the first time on a bike trip. As usual, the only spots for stopping along the narrow road offered the least photographic opportunity, while the scenic ones went by trying to control the bike over sharp switchbacks. I am kinda tired of this fact of US roads and this is one reason I usually don’t bring a tripod on the trips.
This time I decided to slow down my process of photography. I have kept this activity a little bit dormant of late, with intentions of improving the process at the next attempt. I am happy I could take a first step today in the planned direction. While setting up my tripod for a short portrait session, I actually enjoyed the view of the green meadows lit up by the last rays of the sun. It relaxed my soul and filled my face with a wide grin. A short ride with a camera is now my formula of therapy, and a damn good one.
