I am a technology enthusiast and a self-made photographer living in Sunnyvale, California (originally from Santiniketan, West Bengal, India)

By profession I am a software engineer at Yahoo! Finance, one of the popular financial information portals. I am involved with the support and development of both the US and global versions of the site, handling both frontend and backend programming responsibilities.
Having fun while being productive is the mantra of my life. Outside work, I normally engage in creative pursuits, from trying to find my own photographic style, to building wooden furnitures, to solving challenges of everyday life.
The love of photography originated from my addiction to road trips on a motorcycle. A 3MP digicam (Kodak DX3900) in 2002 had me graduated from a snapshooter to a serious imagemaker. I got excited reading about photography on the internet, and around early 2003, bought my first SLR - a Nikon FM10. The rest, as the cliche goes, is history.
I shoot a variety of subjects but the primary goal is to enjoy the process and create emotional imagery. Photography is after all a hobby to relax from the monotony of life. I am a devout fan of national geographic magazine and forever curious about the people and places of the world. At present I often photograph portraits and fine art landscapes, and make inkjet prints at home. My long term goal is to travel around the world and capture the changing landscapes, human condition, and interesting moments in our lives.
Having worked with multiple formats and mediums I have happily settled with digital for regular ongoing work, and film to experience fine art photography in the purest form. Film still gives a certain pleasure by slowing me down that digital does not. The deliberate approach to make every single exposure on a Mamiya RB67 is immensely pleasurable. Not to mention the experience of viewing 6x7 color slides on a light table. I also shoot black and white negatives in both medium format and 35mm, just so I can enjoy making b/w silver gelatin prints in a wet darkroom.
Limited edition prints of my work are available in a couple sizes. At the moment I am offering 8.5x11, 11x14 and 13x19 sizes on Epson premium matt paper. Matted prints (ready for framing) are also available as an option. Please email me for details on pricing.
